Middle East expert Dr. Mordechai Kedar responds in Arabic to a claim made on Al Jazeera that Jerusalem belongs to the Muslims.
Dr. Mordechai Kedar is an Orientalist and lecturer in the Department of Arabic at Bar-Ilan University. He specialized, among other things, in researching the Hafez al-Assad administration in Syria.He has a (Ph.D. Bar-Ilan University) Served for 25 years in IDF military intelligence specializing in Syria, Arab political discourse, Arab mass media, Islamic groups, and Israeli Arabs. Kedar is fluent in Arabic, Hebrew, and English. In 1970 he enlisted in the IDF, served in the Armed Forces and completed his service, after 25 years, with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

In an interview I had last year with historian Benny Morris, he answered the question of the role of religion in the Arab-Israeli conflict like this, “There is a deep religious antagonism in Islam towards Judaism and it is anchored in the Quran as Judaism was a rival religion to Islam when Muhammad began preaching. Religion is still the basis for continuous Muslim antagonism towards Jews and Christians and a justification for jihad”. Do you agree with him?
